Smallbatch is committed to using only all-natural, whole cuts of humanely raised and responsibly harvested meats, sourced directly through trusted suppliers. Their meats are free from hormones and antibiotics, ensuring the highest quality standards. Beef and lamb are pasture-raised, while poultry is free-range, with each protein verified through species-appropriate animal welfare and quality programs.


In addition to premium proteins, they only use fresh, whole vegetables and herbs that are certified organic, non-GMO, and pesticide-free. Their carefully selected supplements, including organic unfiltered raw apple cider vinegar, 100% pure pollock oil, and sustainably harvested organic ocean kelp, ensure pets receive the best nutrition in its purest form.

synthetic pre-mix to their raw formulas. Instead, the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that pets need come from natural and whole food sources. "Blue, our rescue cat, was the very first smallbatch pet. Blue had special needs that store-bought foods couldn’t meet. In our San Francisco flat, we began crafting small, fresh batches using the same local, sustainable meats and produce we brought home for ourselves. Blue thrived, and so did the idea that good food should be simple, real, and responsibly made.

Smallbatch grew from food for Blue in 2004 to a tiny local delivery service for friends and neighbors who wanted the same fresh, ingredient-driven meals for their pets in 2005. Then, they were in their first retail store in 2007 and have been growing thoughtfully ever since.

For the past 20 years, Smallbatch has been proud to partner with incredible neighborhood pet stores like Unleashed!! These partnerships have allowed them to do more than just sell products; they’ve helped forge meaningful connections with customers, store staff, and their communities.
