Did you know that black dogs have the lowest rate of adoption over any other in the country? This is due to a stigma known as “The Black Dog Syndrome”, and the amazing people of The Black Dog Club are doing everything they can to fight it. Of course, they are also committed to helping any dog in need, no matter what color their fur is. Their mission is to “provide rescue and rehabilitation services to dogs pulled from local North Carolina shelters.” This also means that they focus a lot of their adoption efforts on animals who are unlikely to be adopted right out of a shelter, like pets that are of a bonded pair, have been abused, or are heart worm positive. Through meet and greets and a specialized adoption process, they match dogs with owners that will love them and finally give them a place to call home!
