Paws 4 Ever Joins Spring Fling!

Paws For Life NC is joining us for their first Spring Fling this year! Please join us in giving them a big welcome!! Based out of Youngsville, NC, Paws For Life NC began 24 years ago with the goal of eliminating homelessness for all cats and dogs in Franklin County through rescue and foster. Since their beginning, they've expanded to counties including Granville, Wake, Vance, Rowan, Nash, and Rocky Mount! They also offer a low-cost spay & neuter program called Spay & Neuter is Fundamental (SNIF) through vouchers to aid low-income pet owners in reducing pet overpopulation.

"Our Mission: To save or improve the lives of homeless cats and dogs through foster-based rescue operations."

Paws For Life partners with various local dog boarding and daycares in the Wake Forest area. They would love to continue growing their reach and are always looking for fosters!

Adoptable Highlight: Jess!

(DOB 09/14/2018)

Jess is the kind of dog who turns heads without even trying—effortlessly channeling that classic girl-next-door charm while still knowing how to elevate the moment with a little flair. Equal parts playful and poised, she’s a happy-go-lucky hound with a big personality and an even bigger heart.

Goofy, chatty, and wonderfully athletic, Jess brings a spark of joy wherever she goes. Her days are filled with sunrise zoomies, backyard adventures, and cozy wind-down snuggles. She’s currently living with a lively crew of canine companions—her ride-or-die squad—who have helped her refine her social skills as she prepares for her ultimate starring role: devoted sidekick in her forever home.

Jess thrives on fun. She loves romping with other dogs, showing off her impressive hops, and tearing around the yard like she’s training for her own version of the Hound Olympics. A secure 6-foot fenced yard and a playful dog buddy would be her dream setup. She’s clever and quick on her feet, so outdoor time should be supervised—this girl can absolutely fly. Car rides? One of her favorite accessories. She’s always ready to claim the front seat and head out on her next adventure.

She’d do best with an active, dog-savvy family who appreciates classic hound quirks, including her occasional vocal commentary—it’s all part of her charm. Jess is crate trained, potty trained, and content to relax in her crate or curl up on the couch after a full day of fun. She’s also a dedicated chewer, so keeping her stocked with toys, bones, and enrichment items will keep her happily occupied.

Jess hasn’t met cats yet, but her curious nature means a slow, thoughtful introduction would be key—dog-savvy cats with safe escape routes would be the best match. Because of her enthusiastic, bouncy energy, she’d do best with older kids who can keep up with her playful spirit.

If you’re looking for a dog who brings energy, laughter, and just the right touch of star power, Jess is ready to step into the spotlight as the life of your party—and your most loyal companion.

As part of Jess’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Jess, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Adoptable Highlight: Clover!

At just 3.5 months old, Clover has already proven she’s tougher than most. After being hit by a car, this brave girl came to Paws for Life NC with a badly injured front leg and a few scrapes to show for it. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the kindest path forward was amputation — and Clover? She handled it like an absolute champ.

Now healed up, staples out, and feeling better than ever, Clover is ready to make her grand debut! Don’t let the three legs fool you — this girl is all puppy. She’s curious about everything, quietly observant most of the time, but always ready to sprinkle in a little playful spunk when the mood strikes.

Clover is sweet, resilient, and so ready to start her next chapter with a family who will adore her just as she is — perfect, happy, and unstoppable.

Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption (CARA) is back at Spring Fling this year! Their dedication to helping animals in need makes them a perfect addition to this year's rescue lineup.

CARA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-run organization that depends entirely on individual and corporate donations, as well as fundraising proceeds, to carry out its mission. They do not receive any funding from government agencies or national animal welfare organizations. The rescue is fortunate to have a compassionate and dedicated team of volunteers, board members, and supporters who make their life-saving work possible.

MISSION:

"To promote responsible pet ownership through humane education, and to provide shelter and care to domestic companion animals until a loving, responsible home can be found, or lost pets are reunited with their guardians."

Dr. Ron Myres and Pat Sprouse

The beginning of CARA started shortly after Dr. Ron Myres, DVM, opened his veterinary practice in Sanford, NC in 1977. One of Dr. Myres’ first clients was Pat Sprouse, who became close friends with Ron and his wife, Gail.

Sitting around a dinner table, they joined forces with Sissy and Poly Cohen and Diane and Rodney Harrill to form a team of caring people devoted to finding a solution to the growing population of homeless animals in Lee County.

Their collective efforts would later result in the beginning of the San-Lee Humane Society in the early 1980's, a facility that eventually became Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption (CARA) in 2003. As one would expect, the number of homeless animals were more than they could handle effectively without a facility.

CARA continues to find loving forever homes for animals and is committed to a no-kill philosophy. It takes the dedication, generosity, caring and support of the community to allow CARA to do what it does. Since 2003 CARA has found homes for thousands of dogs and cats. Animals have been rehomed as far north as Vermont and as far south as Florida.

CARA has hosted countless community groups at the shelter as well as given humane education presentations at local schools and organizations.

Facilitate Rescue Logo Banner

Facilitate Rescue Inc. is another amazing group that has joined us for past Spring Flings, and we are so excited to have them back again this year!

Established in 2017, Facilitate Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit cat rescue organization dedicated to saving cats and kittens who are at risk of euthanasia. With the support of compassionate, dedicated fosters, volunteers, and generous donations, Facilitate Rescue saves numerous cats from the Harnett County Shelter in Lillington, NC, while also taking in cats and kittens from the local community.

FR Cat with Plant

Facilitate Rescue’s mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for every cat in their care. Each cat is placed in a foster home where they receive socialization, love, and medical attention until they are ready for adoption. This approach helps ensure that every cat has the best possible chance at a long, happy life in a forever home.

Like most rescues, Facilitate Rescue relies on volunteers and foster homes to save cats in need. They can only save as many cats as they have foster homes available so if you want to help out, fostering would be a great way to do that! Learn more HERE!

Meet Adoptable Elsa!

Adoptable Dipper

Elsa is a beautiful, shy girl who dreams of cuddles and snuggles. She loves sleeping right next to you and, with a little time to adjust, she’ll settle right in. She’s playful, chirps often, gently paws at your face when you’re too close, and adores sleeping in your lap. Raised with cats and a dog, she would do best with a feline friend.
