German Shepherd Rescue & Adoptions (GSRA) is joining us for another Spring Fling! Founded in 1992, GSRA is a group dedicated to rescuing German Shepherds in North Carolina. The Rescue primarily concentrates on rescuing German Shepherds, although it does occasionally take on mixed breeds. Most of the dogs come from local shelters; some come from owners who have requested help in finding a new home for their pet.

GSRA is a non-profit organization of dedicated volunteers committed to offering essential care and adoption services to neglected, stray or surrendered German Shepherd Dogs. Based in North Carolina and supporting the Carolinas and Virginia, their rescue strives to protect and promote the magnificent German shepherd breed.

Adopt Dory!

They make a difference in the lives of German shepherds by:

* Offering adoption services

* Assisting owner surrenders of German Shepherd Dogs

* Working towards common goals of saving dogs' lives and reducing pet overpopulation.

* Educating the public in the importance of adoptions, spaying, and neutering of dogs.

A recent win in the last 6 months, GSRA has taken in (separately) 2 emaciated, neglected dogs. Both dogs were near death, only weighing 24 lbs. with a host of medical challenges caused by their malnourished state. They are happy to report that one dog was adopted and the second dog doing great and is ready for adoption.

The volunteers at GRSA love coming to Spring Fling to meet new people to join them in saving German Shepherds, new families to adopt, visiting with GSRA alumni, and spreading education and awareness of their favorite breed. They also appreciate the funds raised and the donations that they receive to help them forward their mission.

Meet Dory!

GRSA Adopt Dory

Hello world!

My name is Dory and I am a strikingly, beautiful young female that’s in search of a new family to spend my life with. I am approximately two years old, and I am on the taller side. I am between 70 and 75 pounds. I have a gorgeous black and tan coat. If size matters, I’m your girl!

A bit about me: I am very smart, affectionate, and I have a decent bit of energy. I am very eager to please! I approach life with exuberance and enthusiasm! I love attention and affection. I am good with men, women and older children. I may not have my PhD, but I’m super smart and eager to learn. I know how to sit, and I know how to lay down. I am working on being able to maintain these positions! I get super excited and I’m eager to bounce onto the next activity. I am extremely food motivated, so bring some treats and we can have a great training session! Read more about Dory here!

If you are interested in adopting a German Shepherd of any age, check out their listing of available dogs on their website: https://gsdrescue.org/available-dogs/

We hope that you will visit GSRA at this year's Spring Fling 2026! You can browse their collection of t-shirts, hats, cups, and stickers! In the meantime, you can see all their adoptable shepherds on their website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

Zoomies Blog Announcement 2026

Zoomies Funny Farm is back again for their third year at Spring Fling! Started in 2023 to support local rescue efforts, Zoomies is focused primarily on spay and neuter assistance. They also provide funds to other rescues for things such as health and wellness grants, food assistance, training and medical needs. Zoomies is heavily involved in TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) for community cats and offer help trapping lost/missing dogs.

Amanda and Forrest

Amanda and Forrest met when Amanda’s rescue dog, Fuzzy Lumpkins, temporarily escaped- a 36-hour hair raising ordeal. A little over a year later they formed Zoomies Funny Farm and got married in the same week.

The two share a love of animals and the desire to make a difference where they can with who they can. A huge recent accomplishment of Zoomies was doing about 1000 spay and neuter since June of 2024. Plus, they have gotten dozens of animals trapped and adopted!

The Zoomies team loves meeting all of the cute pups at Spring Fling! And the exposure is great. It’s so important to communicate the need for spay and neuter. The best way to keep animals out of shelters is to prevent unwanted births in the first place! Stop by the Zoomies booth at Spring Fling 2026 to learn more!

Carolina Animal Network Blog

Carolina Animal Network is joining us for their third Spring Fling, and we are thrilled to have them back! Started as a network outreach program to assist the Rocky Mount Animal Shelter, Carolina Animal Network has officially been rescuing dogs and cats since 2021. They are a fun team that put the wellness of their animals above even their own at times.

Adopt Jersey!

This group rescues animals from high-kill shelters in the South and either relocates them to no-kill rescue organizations throughout the country or helps them to get adopted around North Carolina. Carolina Animal Network uses foster homes to care for animals while they search for adopters across North Carolina or for other rescue groups across country can get the animals adopted.

Carolina Animal Network is made of entirely volunteers who after many years of helping animals wanted to do more about the euthanasia rates for rural shelters. One of their teams biggest recent accomplishments was helping spay/neuter a hoarding case in Selma and saving 3 litters of puppies!

"Our goal is to save at-risk dogs & cats from euthanasia in the Eastern North Carolina Region."

Meet Jersey!

(available as of 4/3/26)

Jersey is a fun energetic puppy. He is crate-trained, house-trained, and knows sit and paw. He is still working on other manners but is coming along nicely. He is dog friendly and would benefit from a dog showing him the ropes.  We would not recommend small children right now, but older kids would be great. Interested in adopting Jersey? Learn more about him on his Wagtopia profile!

Carolina Animal Network loves Spring Fling because it gives them a chance to get adoptable dogs in front of people who love them, and hopefully their future family! Don't miss meeting them and their adoptable pups at Spring Fling 2026!
