Vets to Vets is an organization that helps Veterans get united with a dog and their main goal is improving and saving lives.

By pairing veterans with dogs, they seek to significantly improve a veteran's life by providing companionship and/or help with a mental or physical disability. At the same time, they help save the life of a dog facing euthanasia by adopting the animal from a local animal shelter.

The benefits of companion, therapeutic, and service dogs for veterans suffering from depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and other disabling conditions is well known.

"This type of human/animal bond creates a life-long, loving relationship between two souls, provides therapeutic interventions that can improve the veterans mental and physical health, and promotes a healthier more productive community by increasing independence for men and women veterans with disabling medical and physical conditions."

Make sure to come and see them as they will be attending with some Vets and their pups!

Puffie’s Pawz Rescue has joined Unleashed for many adoption events, often at our Cary store on Kildaire Farm Road, and we love having them with us every time!

Puffie’s is a small, family run rescue that was created in hopes of saving as many animals as possible. Their mission is to “help rescue unwanted, abandoned, and surrendered animals in need.” Puffie’s ensures every dog and cat are up to date on their vaccines, have been well socialized with other animals, and are spayed/neutered. Puffie’s is a small rescue but they are a huge help to animals in need! They always have some lovable, sweet pups, so we know that they will have plenty of pets to love on at Spring Fling!

The Wake County Animal Center is an open admission, county shelter that receives all the stray and abandoned pets in Wake County. They also take owner surrendered pets and as an open admission shelter, they have to take any animal that comes through the doors. This means that sometimes they end up with animals other than dogs and cats, like chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, and even birds or reptiles on occasion! They work with fosters, volunteers and rescues to re-home thousands of pets each year.

Open admission shelters, like Wake County, need so much community support. When they have to take in every animal that comes in, there’s always tough decisions hat have to be made because of space limitations. This is where the community can make a huge impact! Rescues can pull animals into their programs, individuals can foster for the shelter or for a partner rescue group, share adoptable animals to help them find homes, donate supplies to help care for the pets there and make their stay more comfortable, or volunteer their time to help pets in the shelter de-stress and get some extra attention.

You can follow them and keep up with their adoptable pets on their Facebook and Instagram!
