Paws 4 Ever Joins Spring Fling!

Blazin' Trails Bottle Babies was a big hit their first year at Spring Fling, and we are so happy that they will be returning for their second year this April! We are also excited about the fun they're bringing to Unleashed with Puppy Yoga and Crafts with Puppies! This nonprofit neonatal puppy rescue is dedicated to giving orphaned newborn puppies a chance. They specialize in the most fragile cases—bottle babies who need around-the-clock feeding, medical oversight, and experienced foster care during their earliest, most critical days.

"Every Blazin' Trails puppy is raised in a home environment, supported by trained fosters, veterinary partners, and a compassionate community that believes tiny lives are worth extraordinary effort. From emergency intake to thoughtful adoption, our work is rooted in dignity, education, and hope—turning uncertain beginnings into healthy futures, one bottle at a time."

Newborn Blaze

Blaze Blazes the Way

This group was established in January 2024 when founder Shana Sommer came across a newborn puppy, Blaze, while scrolling through social media. Blaze was only a day old and missing his front leg due to his mother chewing it off. Despite having no experience with bottle-feeding puppies, Shana felt called to help. This journey led her to discover the lack of reliable information available with no solid guidance or expert advice tailored to neonatal puppies. Vet after vet turned Shana and Blaze away, saying things like...

Blaze the small terrier mix at almost two years old
Blaze, who turns 3 this July!

“Don’t get too attached.”

“There’s nothing we can do.”

“I’m not comfortable treating this puppy.”

“Sometimes they aren’t meant to survive.”

Blaze was the catalyst for the start to something incredible. Shana built a dedicated team, and with their support, began compiling the knowledge and resources necessary to save these fragile puppies. Together, they built a foundation of specialized care so that puppies like Blaze would have a real, fighting chance at life.

For the upcoming session, expect spring vibes, simple hands-on crafting, lots of “aww” moments, and a chance to meet the team behind the bottles. If you’ve ever wondered what neonatal rescue looks like up-close, this is your chance to be part of it in the happiest way.

Meet Pawsitively Pugs Rescue- joining us at Spring Fling 4/13/25!

Pawsitively Pugs Rescue is back for Spring Fling 2026! They are North Carolina based 501(c)3 non-profit organization with mission to help unwanted and abandoned pugs:

“Until Every Pug Has A Home."

PPR is operated by volunteers and relies solely on donations from supporters. They have no paid staff, so every penny of your tax-deductible donation goes to the care of the pugs in their rescue. They also greatly appreciate the gift of time and would love to have more volunteers and fosters to support them in their mission.

Pugs surrendered to PPR receive necessary medical care; are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and receive routine vaccinations before placement in their forever homes.

"Pawsitively Pugs Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused pugs, giving each a second chance at a loving and caring forever home. PPR accepts pugs regardless of their age, temperament or medical condition."

Adopt Me! Meryl is currently available from Pawsitively Pugs Rescue.
Adoptable Meryl

Meet Meryl (again)!

(and maybe add her to your family...)

You may recognize this pretty girl from last year's blog. This sweetheart is Meryl, a ten-year-old pug mix, who is still looking for her forever home. She found herself in a shelter and luckily ended up with PPR. She loves to play with the other young dogs in her foster home and following her foster mom all around. She enjoys getting love and attention and we think she will be a great fit for almost any home.

When PPR first pulled Meryl out of the shelter it was immediately clear that her knee was popping out of place when she walks (not that it stops her from rough housing!) so she saw the rescue vet and had surgery to correct her knee. Unfortunately, the surgery was not successful. Since this leg didn’t bother her all or affect her quality of life the decision between the vet and rescue was to not put her through the surgery again. This little sweetheart with some extra character is ready for a loving family.

Meryl is housebroken, current on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. If you would like to be considered as a forever home for her, please fill out an adoption application today!

You can learn more about Meryl and all of Pawsitively Pugs' other adoptable dogs on their website and follow them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to keep up with all their activities!

Success Story: Lulu Pug

Lulu came into PPR after her family went into assisted living. She was estimated to be between 12-14 years old, but still full of spunk! After about 4 months with the rescue, a wonderful couple drove 6 hours from Pennsylvania to give her the best home for the rest of her golden years! PPR and Lulu are so lucky to have this couple that has opened their home to 6 senior pugs from PPR over the years!

Since their start in 2017, Pawsitively Pugs Rescue has rescued over 275 pugs and is still going strong!

Stop by the Pawsitively Pugs Rescue booth at Spring Fling and see how you can help and say thanks for helping all those wrinkly faces! Plus, browse their rescue t-shirts, and pug merchandise.

All Good Dogs Logo Banner

At All Good Dogs Rescue, the mission is to provide safe, loving foster homes for dogs in need across NC. They ensure that every dog receives proper veterinary care and is thoughtfully matched with a forever family that fits their personality and needs.

All Good Dogs Rescue is motivated by the fact that in 2021, North Carolina had the second highest euthanasia rate in the US. Our state regularly euthanizes more than 10,000 dogs a year. Many shelters are driven to euthanasia due to overcrowding rather than medical or behavioral problems. All Good Dogs is on a mission to change that!

As soon as they received their official 501(c)(3) status in the second half of 2025, All Good Dogs began actively pulling dogs from shelters and in short span of time has already helped 17 dogs find safety and care, supported by a growing network of eight foster homes.

About growing the rescue and foster network, they had this to say:

Adopt Vanilla!
Adoptable Vanilla!

"From the beginning, our goal has been not only to rescue dogs in need, but also to build a supportive community around them. We know foster caregiving can be challenging, and we believe people do their best work when they feel supported. Being present for our fosters and working together as a team is central to how we operate."

All Good Dogs doesn't have a long history yet, but it is already so meaningful and impactful. Here's what they had to say about how it's going:

"2025 has been a year we’ll never forget. Starting a rescue from the ground up has been challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. We took in several dogs with serious medical needs and experienced real heartbreak along the way. Providing dogs with the best possible medical care and still being unable to save them is the hardest part of rescue, but they are always worth it."

"We feel especially lucky to be able to help dogs like Oscar, a 4-year-old Shih Tzu. Oscar came to us severely malnourished, with an eye so badly damaged it had to be removed, and an abscess between his eyes that had reached his skull. With the help of our veterinary partners, we were able to remove his eye, place him on a careful re-feeding plan, and treat the abscess. Just a week and a half after surgery, Oscar is already feeling so much better and has even started playing! Seeing dogs like Oscar begin to heal, regain their joy, and rediscover what it feels like to be safe reminds us why this work matters and gives us hope for the year ahead."
Oscar Asparagus

Oscar, aka Oscar Asparagus, joined All Good Dogs at the first-ever adoption event to take place at Unleashed at Crabtree Valley Mall and he was quite the showstopper! We hope that he visits Spring Fling with a new forever family- we would love to see him again soon! If he hasn't found his forever home by then, come meet him and see if the home where he belongs is yours!

Ready to Adopt? Meet Roxy!

(currently available as of 2/20/26)

All Good Dogs adoptable Roxy

To know Roxy is to love Roxy! This medium sized Pittie mix puppy is exuberant. It’s no wonder when a gang of college girls found her as an emaciated stray, they made her their special project. They took her to the vet, where she was incredibly popular and eventually convinced one of the girls’ moms to foster her.

Roxy is such an enthusiastic gal she would do best with another playful dog. We think a low energy or elderly dog might find her a bit annoying, but we LOVE her spirit!

She would be fine as an only dog as long as her adopter has the time and energy for walks and playtime. Roxy would make an incredible running or hiking buddy! She’s delightful in public so she’d also be a great brewery buddy. Honestly, we couldn’t love this sweet gal anymore. Her enthusiasm and joy for life are infectious. Roxy has been spayed and is ready for her forever home!
