We can't believe that Spring Fling 2023 has come to a close. It was a fun journey and although the weather was definitely not ideal, we had a fun event too! We are so grateful to everyone that braved the cold rain with us! We are grateful for everyone that came out with or without their pooch (& ferret), that supported us and the rescues and the vendors and the food trucks and our sponsors and to everyone that participated in the soggy Easter Egg Hunt.

We are also grateful to everyone that donated to the Easter Egg Hunt online that may not have gotten to participate this year. We are so appreciative of everyone that purchased t-shirts and raffle tickets and Easter Eggs. 100% of the funds from these will be divided up and sent directly to the animal welfare non-profits/rescue organizations. We are so grateful that 19 non-profit groups came out and enjoyed the event with us. Each of these groups will be receiving a check this week thanks again to everyone that donated! The total cash that you raised for these very special groups comes to $9,017 and every penny will be appreciated. These groups have also been picking up physical donations and we will post pictures of this soon on our Facebook page!

Here are the groups that you helped support:

And, on the personal side, a shout-out to the grandparents for watching the kiddos extra while we put in many extra hours :).

Our hands were cold, but are hearts remained warm and we are grateful for an incredibly supportive community that didn't let the weather ruin our event. We will get planning next year's Spring Fling very soon and will be hoping that the weather turns out better so that we can raise even more for the rescue groups and see even more dogs (and other pets too!)

Love Mutts Rescue is a non-breed-specific dog rescue operating in central North Carolina and south central Virginia. They are a volunteer based group that work hard to rescue dogs that come from all backgrounds.

Once a dog joins the rescue, they provide them with appropriate medical care, and place them in foster homes where they can be loved and nourished while they await their forever home. Their goal is to help all dogs that come into the rescue and find the families that are destined to be theirs.

Follow them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to keep up to date with their events!

Charlie Mike was created by modern combat veterans who know the realities of war and the realities of returning to civilian life. Their mission is to save the lives of those still carrying the unseen wounds of combat, one veteran at a time. Their vision is to help Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors help one another "Continue the Mission of Life," in whatever form that may be. They believe that by standing together at home, just as they stood together during ware time, they will help each other succeed in getting back to life.

Their THREE PILLARS program - PILLAR 1 is the Battle Buddy Canine Training Program. Dogs often prove to be an effective tool in assisting with emotional needs. It has been demonstrated that emotional support and therapy animals can provide tangible results in creating emotional healing and stability. This can correlate to a reduction in suicides, and create a sense of purpose.

In addition, approximately one million dogs in the United States are euthanized each year. We will evaluate and rescue dogs from animal shelters, train them to be “Battle Buddies,” and place them with veterans. This is a significant component of the Charlie Mike mission. In this effort, we essentially save two lives: rescue a dog, and then, rescue a veteran.

Our Battle Buddy Canine Rescue and training program will be conducted at our facility in Liberty, North Carolina.

To find out more information about these wonderful programs Charlie Mike offers please go to their website https://charliemike.org/ Also, follow them on Facebook Twitter and Instagram
