Lab Rescue is coming to Spring Fling 2025!
Lab Rescue LRCP is coming to Spring Fling 2025!

Lab Rescue LRCP is another returning Spring Fling rescue group and we are excited to have back this year. They love sharing their mission with everyone and bringing awareness to the labs they love!

Lab Rescue LRCP is an all-volunteer, foster based organization that works with Labrador Retrievers in the mid-Atlantic region. Their service area spans from Pennsylvania and Delaware through West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. Labs that come into their care are all given veterinary care, including spay and neuter. They average 1,000 labs through their program each year!

They are considered a "virtual" organization because they span such a large area and only utilize foster homes. Their website has all kinds of information about Labrador Retrievers and, of course, the dogs they have available for adoption. Most of their dogs are fostered in Maryland and Virginia but they have supporters and adopters across their service area. In addition to the usual needs like donations and foster homes, groups like Lab Rescue LRCP rely heavily on volunteers to transport dogs to where they need to be. An open foster home may be a couple states away and the dog just needs someone to get them there. If fostering isn't for you, this may be a great way to help out!

Make sure to check out their website for their available dogs and be sure to check back here later. Once it gets closer to the event, we may have an adoptable dog to highlight and who knows, it may be one that you can meet at Spring Fling!

You can see all their available dogs on their website and learn how you can help out. Make sure to stop by their booth at Spring Fling and follow their social media channels, Facebook and Instagram to keep up with them!

Meet Pawsitively Pugs Rescue- joining us at Spring Fling 4/13/25!
Meet Pawsitively Pugs Rescue!

This breed-specific rescue group should be familiar to anyone who has been to Spring Fling in the last few years. Pawsitively Pugs Rescue has been joining us for the past five years and said they love meeting all the dog lovers! We are excited to have them back again for 2025!

"Pawsitively Pugs Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused pugs, giving each a second chance at a loving and caring forever home.  PPR accepts pugs regardless of their age, temperament or medical condition."

This group is completely volunteer run and relies entirely on donations to care for the pugs they take in.

Adopt Me! Meryl is currently available from Pawsitively Pugs Rescue.

One of their adoptable dogs is Meryl, pictured here. She is a distinguished, eight-year-old lady who is described as a sweetheart who loves attention. She enjoys playing with other dogs and following her foster mom around! You can read more about Meryl here.

You can learn more about Meryl and all of Pawsitively Pugs' other adoptable dogs on their website and follow them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to keep up with all their activities! Don't forget to stop by their booth at Spring Fling and see how you can help and say thanks for helping all those wrinkly faces!

Zoomies Funny Farm is zooming their way to Unleashed's 12 Annual Spring Fling Dog & Cat Fundraiser on 4/13/25!
Zoomies Funny Farm is Zooming to Spring Fling!

Zoomies Funny Farm was a first time-attendee last year and we are pleased to welcome them back for Spring Fling 2025! Established in October of 2023, this nonprofit organization has some amazing goals for the community and big plans to impact the animals of North Carolina. When asked what they enjoyed about Spring Fling, they pointed out how great it is for outreach and networking, not just with individuals, but with other rescues as well! With around 30 rescue and non-profit groups every year, Spring Fling is a great opportunity for groups to connect with one another.

The motto at Zoomies is

"Do good. Have fun."

And they certainly have done that! They plan and host many kinds of family-friendly events that serve as fundraisers for their programs, including craft nights, puzzle competitions, educational workshops, and of course, adoption events.

In addition to having cats available for adoption, Zoomies has spent the past year building up a TNR program to address the issue of cat overpopulation at the source. That stands for Trap-Neuter-Return and means that feral and community cats were humanely trapped, had spay or neuter surgery, and were released back to their outdoor homes after a short recovery period. This is a great way to stop kittens from being born since so many come from community cats. Those cats don't need to be in a home, they are fine on their own with someone to watch over them from afar. Zoomies also offers spay/neuter assistance to families that may need it for their dogs and cats. In the first year over 180 cats went through their TNR program, and they provided assistance for more than 20 pets to be spayed or neutered.

Zoomies has an impressive list of goals for 2025 and beyond, including help networking for long-term shelter and rescue pets (meaning they have been there a long time and are having a hard time finding their right home for any number of reasons), providing veterinary and food assistance to enable pets to stay in their homes, outreach programs and the formation of an Animal Welfare Coalition to enact systemic change and create the biggest impact on pets in the area.

Keep up with Zoomies Funny Farm on their website or their socials, Facebook and Instagram.

And don't forget to visit them at Unleashed's 12th Annual Spring Fling Dog & Cat Fundraiser!!
