Facilitate Rescue Inc. is another group that has joined us for Spring Fling in the past and we are excited to have them back again this year!

"Established in 2017, Facilitate Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit cat rescue organization that operates under the 501(c)(3) status. We are committed to rescuing cats and kittens who are in danger of being euthanized. With the help of dedicated fosters, volunteers, and generous donations, we are able to rescue many cats from the Harnett County Shelter in Lillington, NC, as well as take in kittens and cats from the community."

Like most rescues, Facilitate Rescue relies on volunteers and foster homes to save cats in need. They can only save as many cats as they have foster homes available so if you want to help out, fostering would be a great way to do that!

One of their available cats is Mama, pictured here. This is what her people have to say about her: "Mama was an outdoor cat at a mobile home park in Benson. She had been hanging around the park for at least five years. Four years ago, she showed up with an injury, and the people who were feeding her determined that it was an animal attack. Four years later, the injury was not healing, and they finally reached out for help. I picked up Mama and took her to the vet, who said that her injury was actually a burn. They do not know if it was a chemical burn or a heat burn. Mama has adapted perfectly to being an indoor – only cat. She is loving and well behaved. She uses her litter box like she’s been doing it for life. I keep a collar on her to keep her from licking her injury. It gets better and then the scab falls off and it looks raw again. I hope in time it will heal, although she probably will be scarred for life. She deserves a good home with people who will actually take care of her."

You can view all their adoptable cats and learn more about their work on their website. Make sure to stop by their booth and say hello and follow them on their social media channels, Facebook and Instagram, to keep up with all their activities!

You may be familiar with our next organization, especially if you live in Wake County. We welcome back the Wake County Animal Center to Spring Fling.

“The Wake County Animal Center strives to create a humane community for the pets and people that live here.”

The Wake County Animal Center is our open admission, county shelter that receives all of the stray and abandoned pets in Wake County. They take owner surrendered pets (by appointment,) and all found pets. Since they take any animal that comes through the doors, they sometimes end up with animals other than dogs and cats, like chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, and even birds or reptiles on occasion!

The Wake County Animal Center adopts out over 3,000 animals every year. They work with fosters, volunteers and rescues to re-home as many pets as possible. They also have an adoption center, which welcomes visitors to come and look at the pets on their adoption floor (during adoption floor hours.)

While housing animals, The Wake County Animal Center focuses on these "Five Freedoms"- principles that are relevant to the welfare of any animal species:

"Freedom from Hunger and Thirst by ready access to fresh water and diet to maintain health and vigor.
Freedom from Discomfort by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
Freedom to Express Normal Behavior by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind.
Freedom from Fear and Distress by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.”

Meeting these Five Freedoms is a part of what it takes to fulfill their mission statement:

MISSION STATEMENT: Determined to make a difference for the animals and citizens of Wake County through adoption, education, enforcement and community partnership.

During the Animal Center's business hours, there are staff available to answer questions regarding finding a lost pet, adopting a pet, if you found a stray and ways to rehome your pet. There are also many great resources and information about all of these on their website.

Puffie's Pawz Rescue has been a Spring Fling attendee for many years, and we are excited to have them back for one more Spring Fling! Unfortunately, this year is a little different. After many years of great work rescuing dogs, Puffie's Pawz Rescue is in the process of closing their doors.

In the words of the founder:

"Good afternoon

Dearest Rescue Friends, Family Adopters, and Followers,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Puffie's Pawz Rescue. Unforeseen circumstances have forced us to make this incredibly difficult decision, leaving us unable to continue our mission.

The thought of these precious pups, who have come to trust and rely on us, leaving our care is unbearable. We've poured our hearts and souls into giving them a safe haven, a place to heal, and a chance at finding their forever homes.

But we can't do it alone anymore.

All of them are fully vetted, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Many have even been raised with children and cats, making them wonderful additions to any loving family.

Time is of the essence. Without incoming funds, we desperately need to find reputable rescues to take over their care and help them find their happily ever after.

This is where you, our incredible community, come in.

If you know of any rescues in need of loving, well-cared-for dogs, please reach out to us. We are located in Siler City, North Carolina, and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Any help you can provide, whether it's sharing this message, contacting a rescue, or simply offering words of encouragement, would mean the world to us and, more importantly, to these deserving dogs.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your unwavering support.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Puffie's Pawz Rescue

If you would like to, donate to the dogs that are remaining here at the Rescue. We still have to provide food, medical care and etc. Here Are the links.

We will be very sad to see them go and hope that Spring Fling gives them an opportunity to connect with other rescue groups, new adopters, new fosters, and funds to help them support the remaining dogs in the rescue. Visit their booth to see how you can help with the dogs still in their care, like these three:

You can keep up with Puffie's Pawz and their progress to place their remaining dogs on their Facebook page.
