Help us welcome US Dog Coalition, joining us for their first Spring Fling! Their journey began as tourists, exploring the breathtaking views in Mexico. However, amidst the natural beauty, they couldn't ignore the heartbreaking reality, street dogs were everywhere. Puppies, old dogs, and pregnant dogs struggling to survive without shelter and sustenance.

Moved by compassion, they started feeding these dogs, providing momentary relief, but they knew it was not enough. The dogs would return to their harsh lives on the streets, vulnerable, hungry, and alone.

During one visit to Cascada de Cusarare, they encountered a little dog whose frail body was ravaged by mange and intestinal parasites. He sought nothing more than a moment of respite in the sun's warm embrace. Tourists passed him by, oblivious to his silent plea for help.

Unfortunately, they were unable to rescue him. With no veterinarians around for hours, they had no choice but to leave him behind. This heartbreak was the catalyst for the birth of US Dog Coalition. They solemnly vowed to help as many of these innocent souls as possible.

Duncan, inspiration of Duncan's Legacy

Duncan's Legacy: Spay, Neuter, and Care Program

This program was established with the mission of supporting responsible dog owners facing financial challenges in affording spaying and neutering services. US Dog Coalition understands that these dedicated owners prioritize their pets' well-being and community responsibility, choosing not to abandon their dogs but to seek responsible solutions.

Duncan's Legacy was created in honor of Duncan, whose life was cut short by cancer. Every pet helped through this program is a tribute to him and a step toward a healthier future for pets in need. Learn more here!

"Kindness is our strength"

After establishing 501(c)(3) status and successfully transporting the first dogs from Mexico, the US Dog Coalition team quickly realized that their mission needed a dual approach. Locally, they focused on rescuing dogs from overcrowded shelters and accepting owner surrenders, giving them a chance at a better life. Internationally, they collaborated with rescue partners, extending their support and bringing street dogs from Mexico to their sanctuary.

Today, US Dog Coalition has a dedicated team committed to making a difference in the lives of dogs in need. They are on a mission to provide shelter, care, and love to those who have been forgotten and abandoned on the streets. They believe that, together, we can create a brighter future for these deserving animals.

Great Dane Friends Logo Banner

Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love (GDFRL) is joining us for their first Spring Fling! We are so excited to have this group attend with their gentle giants. GDFRL is an extension of Ruff Love Rescue with a primary focus on rescuing and rehoming Great Danes and Dane mixes.

Great Dane Friends helps people to:

  • Determine the right breed for their lifestyle.

  • Find healthy, compatible dogs who fit their wants and needs.

  • Find new homes for dogs whose families can no longer keep them.

  • Provide all necessary medical care to return the Dane to good health.

Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love was founded in 2009 to address the significant need in the world of rescue: the emphasis of quality of rescues instead of just quantity. This organization believes that the handling of each case should be top quality, even at the expense of time or money, so that in the long run they are able to make a larger dent in the quantity of dogs they successfully save. This translates into happier dogs and happier adopters. Since 2009, GDFRL has been able to rescue over 725 dogs!

Meet Charlotte!

big gray greyhound laying on a blanket on the couch

She came into rescue when her previous owner came on hard times & had to give her to the rescue. She went into a foster home & has been great with dogs of all sizes & even cats. She still loves to play with the other dogs but mostly loves to just supervise from the porch.

She is house broken but does have an occasional unexpected one drop out due to her age. She is great on a leash & in the car. She does have some old age back spondylosis but is controlled with the occasional pain medication when she over does it or on cold days. Charlotte deserves a forever home where she can keep your couch warm & be spoiled in her golden years. Please adopt this amazingly sweet old lady!

Learn more about Charlotte (and the mudslide she and her foster family survived) here!

At GDFRL, the well-being and happiness of every dog is top priority. They believe each dog should be in a foster home where they can be socialized and learn basic manners while their foster families learn about their personalities in a way that would not be possible in a kennel setting. This allows for an easier transition for both the Dane and their adopter, creating a higher success rate when matching dogs with adopters.

This rescue believes all dogs deserve a chance, regardless of age or medical condition. If they see a dog in need, they help it. They choose to count "tail wags and kisses instead of pennies." Like most rescues, puppies get adopted faster, and healthy dogs have lower vet bills, but all dogs deserve healing and love. They even have a couple sanctuary dogs!

Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love is dedicated to transparency and will never place a dog with an adopter without disclosing any known medical or behavioral traits. They ensure all dogs in their rescue receive complete medical care prior to adoption and work with professional trainers when necessary. When it comes to GDFRL, you can adopt with confidence, knowing your new friend has received the care and attention they deserve.

Paws 4 Ever Joins Spring Fling!

Greyhound Care and Adoption of North Carolina (GCA-NC) is joining us for their first ever Spring Fling! They are a group of greyhound enthusiasts who love retired racing greyhounds and work hard to find them the best homes possible. GCA-NC specializes in retired racing greyhounds from Ireland and England since there are so many of them in need of homes.

Their mission is simple: to ensure every greyhound finds a loving home and receives the care they deserve. GCA-NC may have been recently established (2024), but their passion for greyhounds spans decades. Their board members and volunteers have dedicated years to caring for and advocating for this remarkable dog breed. With their immense experience in greyhound care and adoption, GCA-NC is committed to providing support to both current greyhound owners and those looking to welcome a greyhound into their family.

"Our greyhound adoption process is designed to match you with the perfect dog that fits your lifestyle and home. By choosing to adopt, you're not only giving a retired racing greyhound a loving forever home but also making space for more dogs to be cared for."

GCA-NC believes in the power of community and collaboration. They strive to create a network of resources and shared knowledge that enhances the well-being of all sighthounds. They also support and endorse relationships with organizations and groups that practice humane and ethical treatment of their dogs. GCA-NC's focus is to:

  • Provide retired racing greyhounds a path to adoption into caring homes

  • Ensure the health and welfare of these wonderful dogs

  • Educate the public about this breed as pets
