The Goathouse Refuge is located in Pittsboro, NC and is a completely no-kill sanctuary for cats. Any cat is welcome there, regardless of age, behavioral concerns, or medical concerns.

They also understand not every cat will be happy living as a pet in a person’s home, so for some of their cats who have unique situations, such as growing up as a feral cat, The Goathouse is their permanent shelter and a place to call their own. For founder, Siglinda Scarpa, the philosophy is, “every cat has the right to a life free from both danger and indifference.” Everything The Goathouse does ties back to this philosophy and produces amazing results for so many cats in need!

“The Goathouse Refuge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill animal sanctuary dedicated to providing cage-free care for cats regardless of age, medical issues or disposition until a permanent loving adoptive home can be found.”

Freedom German Shepherd Rescue is a dedicated group of volunteers working to save neglected, abused, and abandoned German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes across North Carolina. Their dogs may come from shelters, from owners who can no longer care for their dogs, or from partner rescues. All their dogs live in foster homes while waiting for their perfect match. That way, they can get an idea of the kind of home that would best suit each dog, as well as start on basic training and get an idea of each dog's personality.

This group prides itself on doing what is best for each dog in its care. This includes a several-step application process to find the best fit for each dog and for each applicant.
