Freedom German Shepherd Rescue is a dedicated group of volunteers working to save neglected, abused, and abandoned German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes across North Carolina. Their dogs may come from shelters, from owners who can no longer care for their dogs, or from partner rescues. All their dogs live in foster homes while waiting for their perfect match. That way, they can get an idea of the kind of home that would best suit each dog, as well as start on basic training and get an idea of each dog's personality.

This group prides itself on doing what is best for each dog in its care. This includes a several-step application process to find the best fit for each dog and for each applicant.

Lending Paws a Hand (LPAH) is a 501(c)(3) volunteer-run, non-profit dog and cat rescue organization that seeks to save the lives of unwanted, at-risk animals in need throughout Lee County, NC.

"LPAH is a foster based rescue, which means our dogs and cats are placed in a loving foster home while they wait for their forever home! "

Without a physical location, LPAH depends on compassionate members of the community to open their hearts and homes to animals in need and serve as a foster home until fur-ever homes are found.

Doxie by Proxy Rescue is a completely volunteer run, foster based rescue group. They accept dachshunds from shelters and from owners who can no longer care for them. When possible, they do what they can to help owners who are considering the surrender of their pet, in order to keep more dachshunds in loving homes and out of the rescue system. They focus on the North Carolina area and require adopters travel to the state to complete adoptions, though they do prefer local adoptions so they can provide support in the future if needed.

“Doxie By Proxy Rescue, Inc. began in January 2019 out of a passion for both rescue and the dachshund breed. The rescuers involved with this organization have over 50 years rescue experience collectively — and work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dachshunds and dachshund mixes in North Carolina.”
