Freedom Ride Rescue; saving dogs one "freedom ride" at a time

Freedom Ride Rescue is a group of Raleigh dog lovers who are dedicated to helping as many dogs as possible get their “freedom ride”, that trip out of the shelter to a new life and a second chance to find their happily ever after. Customers at our Stonehenge location may recognize some of their alumni since the store manager there, Nicole, is a regular foster for Freedom Ride and often brings her foster pups to work! Everyone with Freedom Ride is a volunteer and the group is completely foster based, meaning their dogs live in homes with families, learning everything they need to become the best housemate possible and your future best friend.

“As fosters, we are willing to have our heart break after we love, rehabilitate and nurse an unwanted, unloved animal until they prance away with their fur-ever person – often never looking back – as they start their most life’s wonderful chapter: the one as a cherished pet.”

Meet Vito, one of their sweet adoptable dogs.

“Get ready to use your best NY Italian voice....."say hello to my little friend" Vito. This big sweet boy is a 1 years old big boy who thinks he can sit in your lap. Dog friendly, kid friendly. He is currently fostered with 2 older elementary aged kids who are dog savvy. He is house trained, crate trained (sleeps like a dream), and leash trained (only pulls at times but easy to handle by adults). He's food motivated and loves booty scratches and being your couch buddy occasionally. He kidney beans and leans in and wiggles his whole body for love like a boxer. He knows basic commands - sit, shake, lay down, stay (with treats of course), loves bone/chew toys, kongs, all toys really. . He needs an active owner or family to play out in a fenced yard and give daily walks to be his best self. He ideally would love a furry sibling to play with, but could be the only dog with an active adopter committed to playing with him and doggy playdates/dog parks. He lives for romping with buddies and walks. Be ready for a weighted blanket of a dog and lots of love and laughs at his puppy antics (eg, runs away with a dustpan or amazon box for example). If you are ready for a hunka chunka burnin' love... Vito could be your happy meatball.”

You can keep up with Freedom Ride on their website or on their social media channels, Facebook and Instagram.
